Foothills, Fields and Flowerbeds: A Pastel Workshop – 25 August 2019 A special one-day workshop presented by Dean Tatam Reeves at the Coutts Centre for Western Heritage, near Nanton, Alberta
Date – Sunday 25 August 2019 (10 am to 4:30 pm)
Cost – $125 plus GST
This workshop is intended for participants with varying levels of experience with soft (chalk) pastels. Our aim will be to explore the expressive potential of working with pastels on paper for producing vibrant studies of the Coutts Centre gardens, surrounding fields and the foothills beyond. Pastels can be used as a sketching medium with the added potential of creating more vibrant finished work with a painterly effect. Pastel is a vibrant medium well suited for personal expression with fingertip control. During the class we will discuss paper preferences, the use of acrylic pastel medium to prepare a lightly textured and tinted working surface, applying spray fixative and safe storage of artwork.
