Homesteads and Potting Sheds – 8 September 2019 A special one-day drawing and painting workshop presented by Dean Tatam Reeves at the Coutts Centre for Western Canadian Heritage
Date – Sunday 8 September 2019 (10 am to 4:30 pm)
Cost – $125 plus GST
In this workshop participants will explore several traditional methods of working with ink & wash and watercolours to produce sketches and paintings featuring the interesting and historic collection of buildings and garden structures found at the Coutts Centre. We will explore the use of black India ink that, when diluted and applied with pen nib and brush, offers a broad tonal range perfect for creating drawings rich in descriptive detail, texture, shading and atmosphere. We will also discover how transparent watercolour washes can enhance the underlying drawing with vibrant and expressive colour. A fundamental aspect of drawing and painting is the act of seeing so there will be an emphasis on developing visual awareness.
